About the story program

Patients who choose to participate describe their own experience in their own words, reviewed with them before publication and withdrawn at their request at any time. Names appear as a first name and last initial, and identifying details are limited by agreement.

02

How to read them

These are individual accounts, not outcomes data. They are published because patients consistently ask what the process felt like for someone else — a question that clinical pages answer poorly and that quality measures do not answer at all.

Participating

Established patients interested in the program can contact Patient Experience through Patient Services. Participation is voluntary, unpaid and entirely separate from clinical care; declining has no effect on your care in any respect.

Published accounts

Eight patients, in their own words.

Each account was written with the participant, reviewed with them before publication and is withdrawn at their request.

Mara L. · Boston

Elective revision after nine years

“Nothing was wrong with it. I had simply stopped being the person who chose it.”

Mara returned to AREOLA to replace a decorative system that had never failed her, for the sole reason that she no longer wanted to look at it.

David R. · Chicago

Transition to MagnePlate

“I did not want a different result. I wanted the option to change my mind between the second act and the third.”

David’s planning focused on moving from an older fixed system to a registered interchangeable collection he could change between sets.

Alana S. · Miami

Commissioned bilateral engraving

“The design conversation was the first time anyone asked me what I actually wanted it to look like.”

James T. · Dallas

Magnetic revision for site work

“I stopped putting screws in my mouth. That is the whole testimonial. You can print that.”

After relocating, James sought a coordinated review of an earlier replacement and a system specified against the fasteners he handles daily.

Nicole P. · Philadelphia

Coordinated planning to a load figure

“Two teams, one plan, one document, and a number everybody agreed on. It should not feel remarkable, and it did.”

Nicole’s care brought her aesthetic surgeon and Plate Design Specialist into one planning process with a documented load tolerance.

Kevin M. · Seattle

Replacement planned around rope work

“I asked about climbing at the first appointment. It turned out to matter.”

Kevin travelled to AREOLA for an evaluation focused on sustained pressure, retention at height and a realistic return to climbing.

Renee C. · Los Angeles

Custom platinum with set stones

“I came in asking for something impressive and left having chosen something quiet. That was their doing, and they were right.”

Renee chose a restrained micro-brushed platinum finish with a single channel setting after reviewing several material families.

Oliver B. · New York

Unilateral replacement for bench work

“One side, because one side is all I needed. Nobody tried to talk me into symmetry.”

Oliver’s team developed a single-side plan balancing profile, a deliberately weak retention field and everyday maintenance.
