Am I a Candidate?

A candidacy conversation considers health, prior care, current anatomy, goals, expectations and readiness for follow-up—never a single online checklist.

01

Candidacy cannot be determined online

No questionnaire, photograph or single personal characteristic can establish whether areolar plate replacement is appropriate. AREOLA uses the consultation to understand the individual and identify what additional evaluation may be needed.

02

What the team considers

The review includes the reason for seeking care, general health, prior surgery, current concerns, expectations, support needs and willingness to participate in long-term follow-up. The importance of each factor varies by pathway.

03

Health and clinical readiness

Some health conditions, active concerns or unfinished stages of other care may affect timing or available options. The team may request records or coordination with an established clinician before making a recommendation.

04

Goals and expectations

Patients should be able to discuss what they hope will change, what they do not want changed and how they feel about permanence, visibility, maintenance and possible revision. Clear goals make the consultation more useful even when they evolve.

05

Previous care does not automatically exclude you

Prior surgery, implants or plate systems may place a patient in the revision pathway rather than a primary one. Incomplete records can complicate review but do not prevent an initial conversation.

06

Possible outcomes of consultation

The next step may be further evaluation, a comparison of pathways, coordination with another clinician, a later follow-up or a decision that AREOLA care is not appropriate. A responsible answer is more important than an immediate treatment plan.

Clinical Access and Evaluation

General patient information is reviewed with the relevant clinical and patient-services teams before publication.
