Program purpose

What this pathway is designed to develop.

The Fellowship in Advanced Areolar Plate Replacement & Surface Design prepares physicians to work responsibly inside AREOLA’s coordinated model. Fellows do not advance by case count alone; progression depends on judgment, communication, documentation and dependable collaboration across disciplines.

Clinical evaluation

Supervised consultation, elective history, candidacy discussion, expectation setting and escalation of uncertainty.

Planning & systems

Integration of clinical plate design, material and attachment considerations, digital planning records and team verification.

Recovery & continuity

Nursing partnership, recovery communication, registered-system records, follow-up and revision review.

Scholarship & governance

Research methods, quality review, case conference leadership, teaching practice and an approved scholarly project.

Program structure.

Graduated responsibility

Each fellow begins with direct observation and faculty-led review. Responsibility increases only after documented progress in clinical reasoning, communication, team practice and professional conduct.

Rotations

Core time is based in Philadelphia, with assigned exposure to elective, revision, magnetic-systems, nursing, plate-design, outcomes and materials programs across the network.

Completion

The Clinical Competency Committee reviews the fellow’s portfolio, faculty assessments, scholarly work and readiness for an AREOLA appointment. Completion does not substitute for licensure or institutional credentialing.

Assessment, records and boundaries.

Assessment or record

Assessment combines direct observation, case logs, documentation review, multisource feedback, simulation, oral case review and a faculty-supervised scholarly project.

Scope boundary

The fellowship is an internal AREOLA professional program and makes no claim of recognition by an external accreditor, specialty board or professional society.
