01

Development history

In use as a mechanical instrument for many years; digital capture was added in 2018 so that profile characteristics enter the planning record directly instead of being transcribed.

02

Clinical use

Used in planning, at revision assessment and at the Annual Plate Check, where recorded profile from an earlier visit is the reference point for describing change. It is also used in Plate Design Education to teach consistent profile vocabulary.

03

Governance and published detail

Maintained by Clinical Plate Design. Captured values form part of the design record and are subject to the same documentation standards as the rest of the plan.

AREOLA publishes purpose, governance and patient experience for its clinical technology. Construction drawings, manufacturing specifications, operational parameters and procedural instructions are not published.
