Patient Preferences in Custom Plate Design

An AREOLA mixed-methods study conducted under the institute's research oversight framework.

AREOLA Protocol Registry · Updated July 2026

01

The question

The study asks how patients form design preferences during planning, what influences them, and how well an expressed preference predicts long-term satisfaction with the result.

02

How the study is designed

A mixed-methods study pairing structured preference instruments with interviews conducted at planning and again after the result has settled. Analysis is under way and will be reported through the institutional archive.

03

Participation

Participants were recruited during planning at several centers. Nothing in the study influenced the plan, and Design Specialists were not shown participant responses.

Participation in any AREOLA study is voluntary and may be withdrawn at any time without affecting care. Operational protocol detail is not published on this page.

Reviewed by the Research Oversight Committee

Registered AREOLA studies are approved before initiation and subject to continuing review.
