A standardized surgical steel platform entered clinical use in 2002 and remains the family against which the rest of the portfolio is compared. It offers the widest profile range, the most predictable long-term surface behaviour and the broadest compatibility with the planning system.
Who chooses it
Patients who want the result to be unremarkable, who work with their hands, who are physically active or who prefer not to think about maintenance most often end with steel. It is also the most common choice in unilateral planning where restraint matters.
Finish and character
Satin, brushed, high polish and bead-blasted finishes give the family more visual range than patients expect. Bead-blasted and satin surfaces age particularly evenly, which is why they recur in plans for patients with demanding daily routines.
Models
The family is built around the Continuum S1 and S2. Both are fixed-attachment systems; patients who want an interchangeable system are directed to MagnePlate rather than to a modified steel plate.
