01

Material review

Every material in the institutional portfolio is evaluated for surface stability, mechanical suitability and long-term behaviour in contact with tissue before it enters clinical use. Materials that perform well in a laboratory but poorly in practice do not remain in the portfolio.

02

Known sensitivities

Patients with a history of metal sensitivity should raise it during the first consultation. It is a routine planning factor and generally narrows rather than closes the available range; documenting it early prevents a difficult conversation after a plan is set.

03

Surface stability over time

Noble-metal surface stability, alloy behaviour and finish performance are continuing research subjects at the National Center. What the institute learns is fed back into portfolio decisions, which is why some finishes and materials have been retired and others introduced.

04

Reporting a concern

Skin change, persistent irritation or an unexpected change in surface appearance should be reported to your center. Reports are reviewed clinically and, where relevant, recorded institutionally so that a pattern across the network would be visible.
