Commissioned silhouettes
The standard plate is circular, and circular remains the default for every system in the catalogue. The Studio will develop a non-circular silhouette — most often a faceted octagonal form — as a commissioned one-off where the clinical plan allows it. Edge geometry is reviewed against profile, attachment and how the perimeter will sit against clothing before a form is approved, and a silhouette that cannot satisfy all three is declined rather than adapted.
The plan comes first
A commission begins only after the clinical plan is documented and approved. The Studio works within the material, profile and attachment already established; it does not revisit clinical decisions or extend the plan to accommodate a design idea.
Design record and review
Every commission carries a design record: the approved plan it derives from, the design decisions taken, the review points and the person accountable at each stage. Nonconformance is reviewed rather than absorbed, and a piece that does not meet the record is not finished.
Timelines
Commissioned work takes longer than a catalogue system, and the timeline depends on material, complexity and review. Your Design Specialist gives a realistic range at the outset and updates it rather than allowing an optimistic first estimate to stand.
What the Studio does not do
The Studio does not fabricate work for people who are not AREOLA patients, does not accept client-supplied metals or stones, and does not publish its processes, parameters or supplier arrangements. Precious materials are procured through documented suppliers so that provenance travels with the design record.
Content is reviewed with the relevant clinical, nursing, materials or administrative department before publication.
