What the guides are
Six short guides organized by stage: understanding options, preparing for a first appointment, recovery, travel planning, financial preparation and long-term care. Each is written to be read before an appointment and brought to it, with room for your own questions.
What they are not
The guides are general education. They do not describe your plan, determine candidacy, or replace the written instructions your care team gives you. Where a guide and your care team differ, your care team is correct.
Using them with your team
Patients who arrive with a marked-up guide tend to have more focused consultations. Coordinators can send a guide ahead of a scheduled appointment, and nursing can review any section of one with you during a visit.
Content is reviewed with the relevant clinical, nursing, materials or administrative department before publication.
