Care in Dallas

What this center is known for.

The North Texas Center is built around throughput without compression: a schedule weighted toward patients travelling from across the region, and a nursing establishment sized so that recovery care is not the part of the day that gets shortened. It is one of the busiest surgical centers in the network.

Every center works to the same clinical standards, uses the same digital planning record and draws on the national materials and plate laboratory in Philadelphia.

01

Perioperative and recovery capacity

The center's nursing team is proportionally the largest in the network, which is what allows same-week surgical scheduling to coexist with an unhurried recovery pathway.

02

Revision replacement

Revision is a substantial share of the case mix, and the center's specialists work closely with the national Revision Case Council on plans that involve a previous system.

03

Studio design consultation

Design consultation is available here, with fabrication completed at the national laboratory. Patients frequently combine it with a surgical follow-up visit.

Consultation

First appointments, second opinions and planning conversations with a replacement specialist and nurse.

Surgery

Procedures performed in the center's surgical suite, with perioperative nursing and anesthesia support.

Revision

Assessment and elective planning where a previous plate, system or replacement result already exists, including changes in preference.

Custom Plate Studio

Design consultation for commissioned work, fabricated and finished at the national laboratory.

01

Center leadership

Jonathan Mercer, MD, leads the center clinically and also holds clinical leadership at the Sonoran Center, dividing his practice between the two. Idris Coleman, NP, provides advanced practice leadership and continuity between his visits.

02

The care team

Replacement specialists, a large perioperative and recovery nursing team, advanced practice providers, patient coordination and clinical plate design.

03

Visiting this center

General consultation windows run three to five weeks. The center serves a wide region of Texas and the surrounding states; coordinators routinely sequence a consultation, a planning visit and early follow-up so that a patient travelling several hundred miles makes as few journeys as the plan permits.
