01Three distinct authorities
The Board of Directors oversees quality, safety, research, stewardship and institutional responsibility. Executive leadership runs the institute. Clinical governance sets and enforces care standards. These are related but deliberately separate, and none of them substitutes for another.
02Board committees
Four standing committees carry the Board's work: Audit, Quality & Safety, Research Oversight, and Nominating & Governance. Each has a defined charter, meets on its own cycle and reports to the full Board.
03Clinical authority
Clinical standards are set through the Clinical Standards Council and the associated councils described under Surgical Leadership. Corporate leaders do not overrule clinical judgement, and clinical leaders do not direct corporate stewardship.
04Documentation
Charters, committee composition and review cadences are maintained by the Office of the Corporate Secretary and summarized on the governance pages in the About section.
